Michael is a graduate of UCD and spent many years abroad involved in a variety of businesses. Michael has an in depth knowledge of setting up and running his own business and brings an innovative spirit to the table. Inspired by his own mother’s Lewy Bodies Dementia, he set up Home Care Plus to provide quality non-medical care at home for people who through age or illness are finding it difficult to continue living independently.
Michael is married to Elmagh and they have two children Patrick and Sofia.
Michael graduated from UCD medical School in 1994 and completed his internship in St Vincent Hospital Dublin in 1995 . He was accepted on to the East Coast region general practice training scheme and completed this to become a fully qualified GP in 1998. In 1996 and 1997 he completed his DCH (diploma in child health)and the DME( diploma in medicine of the elderly).
He established his own practice, Sandyford Hall medical centre in 1999. He continues to work fulltime in this successful practice and looks after people of all ages. In 2003 he was invited to become the resident doctor on “Open House”, an afternoon show on RTE with “Marty and Mary“. Michael continues to write a monthly “opinion article for “Forum”, the journal of the Irish college of general practitioners.
Michael has a keen interest in rugby and continues to be the team doctor to the Irish under 20 rugby team. He is married with three kids aged 11 and 8 and 6.
Clare’s career in the health and social care sector in the UK spans 25 years. She has an in depth knowledge of the sector and has run her own home care company. Clare was involved in the UK Department of Health’s final consultation for the National Minimum Care Standards (NMCS) for Domiciliary Agencies.
Clare is a dignity champion for older people and a consumer rights writer / author for people requiring care services. Author of “How To Get Good Care Services”, she has also written for various magazine and national newspapers in the UK on the subject.
Clare’s role is focussed on ensuring that in the absences of minimum standards in Ireland, Home Care Plus works to the high standards set by UK regulations for the sector.
Josephine is a registered General Nurse with extensive clinical experience. She has worked as a staff nurse in St. Vincent’s University Hospital, St. Vincent’s Private Hospital and Beaumont Hospital. She also has widespread experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide quality care to patients.
Josephine has experience of telephone triage in addition to direct experience of working as a carer and so fully understands the home care sector and is exceptional at providing distance support that is sometimes required when care & support workers are managing a crisis in a person’s home and looking to the office based staff to give advice.
Josephine’s role in the business is the day to day management of the care and support, assessing client’s needs, drawing up care plans and ensuring there is constant supervision of the care provided.
Con comes from a nursing background and also has varied experience working in the home care sector. He is originally from Sligo and has been living in Dublin for the past two years. Con has experience of caring for people who have had a different range of care needs, this includes caring for elderly people, palliative care, people with learning disabilities and children. He has a passion for caring for people. He is also a FETAC trainer and ensures that our carers are fully equipped to meets the needs of the people we are caring for. Apart from training, Con creates individual care plans for our clients and is also involved in the supervision of these plans and the carers who carry them out.
Con has an interest in keeping fit, travelling and volunteer work. Con has done volunteer work on a local and international basis.
Liza has successfully completed a Masters in Applied Psychology (Mental health) at the University of Ulster and has gained comprehensive knowledge of major psychological Therapies through practical experience in their use. She has also worked as a carer and has an in depth practical knowledge of giving care.
Liza’s role is the coordination of rostering and ensuring suitable carers are matched with clients. She also is involved with client enquiries and recruitment of carer’s.
Sarah graduated from UCD with a BA (hons) Phychology and went on to work with children in Cerebal Palsey Ireland while completing a Diploma in Montessori by night. A career change saw Sarah working with Bank of Ireland for a number of years before she retired to raise her three sons. Sarah has decided to reintegrate herself back into the working world, and is involved with the day to day office administration and client management.
Oonagh, a philosophy graduate from Trinity college, has several years experience working with voluntary groups such as meals on wheels and the Barretstown gang camp. She is involved with the interviewing and matching of our carers with our clients. She also helps Con with assessments as well as being involved with the running of the office.
Oonagh is married with four children aged between 17 and 10.
